Butterfly Lifespan

The average adult butterfly will live for a month. In the wild, usually less, due to predators and environmental risk. The smallest may live a week, and some, such as the Monarch, can live up to nine months (source).

A piece finished for the RAWartists show this weekend. Hopefully one more to come by Saturday.

Happy Tuesday, all! 🙂

Dinner and a movie

Now that it’s after Valentine’s day, I want to show off this super-sweet custom drawing I did for a lovely couple, who obviously know how to have a good time!

I’m an incredible homebody myself, and ordering takeout and watching movies at home is one of the most romantic things I can think of. Especially this time of year. Brrr.

Custom portraits are so much fun to do. My clients are amazing. 🙂

Bedtime Story

Reading in bed is one of my favorite things to do, maybe because my Mother read to us every night, to my memory without fail.

Pencil, watercolor and digital color. Here is the rough original drawing, on watercolor paper:

To fit the frame

Check out this amazing frame I scored at the thrift store this week! It’s solid pewter, with a velvet back, of course, and I needed to create a special couple for it to house.

I’ve been collecting several small, old-fashioned frames recently, and creating little ink and watercolor paintings to fit in them perfectly. I’ll have a whole family of these ready for the Punk Rock Flea Market this upcoming weekend!

The Quirky Couple – the perfect pair

Today’s watercolor painting: since Valentine’s day is coming up, I felt it would be amiss not to create something full of saccharine and little hearts, so – enjoy!

The quirky couple, a perfect pair.

Apparently in South Korea the fourteenth of February is the one day of the year where the girlfriend treats her man to candy/gifts, whereas the fourteenth of every other month is the guy’s turn. Men of America, you’ve got it so easy!

Prints are available in the etsy shop, as well as cards, if your valentine is into that sort of thing. 🙂
